Missing product brand
A product has no brand in the feed. For Google it is a warning about lower visibility, but when the GTIN and MPN are missing too, the Meta catalogue will not take the product. The brand is the cheapest of these to fill in.

The message you see
A message about a missing [brand] value in Google and about a missing identifier (brand, gtin or mpn) in the Meta catalogue; wording varies with the interface version.
Google Merchant Center → Products → Diagnostics; Meta Commerce Manager, catalogue diagnostics.
What Basketly does
Basketly flags a missing brand (a warning) and a missing brand, GTIN and MPN together (an error on Meta’s side). It will not add the brand itself, but you can set it with a manual fix or a rule.
Why a platform flags it
A brand helps a platform recognise the product and is one of the three pieces of information on which Meta takes a product into a catalogue. For Google the brand is required where a product has a clear manufacturer.
How Basketly handles it
- Products: a missing-brand check (a warning) and a no-brand-GTIN-or-MPN check for Meta (an error); a title without the brand is a tip.
- It does not add the brand itself, because it makes nothing up.
- On the product record you can type the brand as a manual fix; it survives later shop reads and reaches every feed with the product.
- With a feed rule you can set brand from a template based on another attribute, if the shop keeps the brand in another field.
How to fill in a missing brand by hand
A brand is a name the buyer recognises.
Establish the brand
Take the manufacturer’s name from the packaging or the supplier. Use the name shoppers know.
Fill it in the shop
Fill the brand or manufacturer field on the product so the feed passes it as brand.
Own make
For products you make yourself Google allows the store name as the brand.
A rule for many products
If the brand is in another attribute, set brand from a template in a feed rule.
What Basketly does not do
- It does not guess a brand: it adds nothing without data.
- It does not guarantee approval by Google or Meta.
