Feed: Ceneo

A Ceneo XML feed from one source

The file for Ceneo is often made apart from the feed for Google and Meta, with its own fixes done by hand. Basketly takes the same products (from a shop, an address or a file) and serves them as Ceneo XML with one format switch. Fixes and rules stay the same, and the link gets its own markers.

The demo has sample data; the login comes to your e-mail.

What goes into the Ceneo file

The file has an <offers> element with the offers. Each holds an id, a link, the current price, avail, stock from the quantity field, a category from product_type (with “/” as the separator), a name, images and a description, and the attributes producer, EAN, producer code, colour, size and material. Products out of stock or without a price do not reach the file.

Availability: avail 1, 14 and 110

Availability from the source feed is turned into an avail value: 1 for an available product, 14 for backorder and 110 for preorder. If the source feed gives a quantity, the automatic fixes set availability from it (0 is out of stock), and products out of stock leave the file. So you do not watch stock separately in Ceneo and in the Google feed.

A Ceneo feed in 4 steps

It takes a few minutes if the products are already in Basketly.

  1. Make a copy or a new feed

In Basketly open Feeds. On the feed page use “Create a copy”, or add a new feed from the same products (a shop, an address or a file).

  2. Set the Ceneo XML format

In the feed settings (Output: feed format) choose Ceneo XML. In a flow you choose the format in the Output block and save the flow.

  3. Adjust the rules

In the Fixes and rules tab add what Ceneo needs, for example a table that translates shop categories. The preview shows how many products a rule changes.

  4. Paste the address into Ceneo

Copy the output feed address and give it in the Ceneo panel as the file with offers.

The same fixes and rules, a separate copy

The simplest way is to copy the feed (“Create a copy”): the same products, its own rules and the Ceneo format. The copy takes the products of the original after its fixes and rules, so a change in the original passes on. In the copy you add only what Ceneo needs, for example a table that translates the shop category into the category in the file.

Link tagging for Ceneo

In a Ceneo feed the Ceneo preset is on by default, with utm_source=ceneo, utm_medium=cpc, the feed name and the product id. The panel adds them to the offer address (url) without overwriting parameters the link already has. That way traffic from the comparison site can be told apart in analytics from ad traffic.

What it does not do

  • It does not send the file to Ceneo for you and does not check whether Ceneo accepts it: you give the address yourself and check Ceneo’s requirements with Ceneo.
  • It does not add missing data, such as an EAN or a producer, that is not in the source.
  • It leaves out products without stock and without a price, so the number of offers in the file can be lower than in the Google feed.
  • The Ceneo format is not read by Meta, so do not paste it in the Meta catalogue.
  • The limit is 20 feeds per organisation.

Yes. Copy the feed and set the Ceneo XML format in the copy. The copy has the same products, its own rules and its own address.

Yes. Ceneo XML is read as an input and mapped onto Google attributes, so you can fix it and serve it again or in another format.

Availability is turned into avail 1, 14 (backorder) or 110 (preorder). Products out of stock leave the file.

The output feed is built on every request for its address, from the current products and rules. A source from an address refreshes every 1, 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours, or by hand.

Yes, the Ceneo preset in link tagging adds utm parameters to the offer address. It is the default in Ceneo feeds.
