Product description: HTML, stuck sentences, length
The description from a shop export contains HTML tags, sentences stuck together with no space or repeats the title. A platform reads it as plain text, so such descriptions look worse in an ad and in results than on the shop page.

What Basketly does
Basketly turns HTML into text, restores missing spaces between sentences and shortens overlong descriptions. It will not write a short description or one equal to the title for you.
Why a platform flags it
A description should explain the product to a buyer. HTML tags and stuck sentences hurt readability, a description equal to the title adds nothing, and an overlong text is truncated. Google gives no HTML rule on this page, so this is Basketly’s assessment, not a refusal under a specific rule.
How Basketly handles it
- Fixes automatically: HTML in the description and title turned into text, stuck sentences (“word.Next”), extra spaces, length over 5,000 characters.
- Only flags: a description under 100 characters, one equal to the title and a missing one (an error).
- The fixes change the file served to platforms, not the description in the shop.
- Guidelines: Google’s description rule with a link to its page and the number of your products that break it.
How to fix a product description by hand
A good description describes the product, not the shop.
Remove HTML tags
Export the description as text or clear the tags in the shop.
Add spaces after full stops
Check that sentences do not run together in the export.
Add content
Describe the material, use and parameters. Put the most important first.
Drop prices and delivery
Keep prices, discounts and delivery costs in separate attributes, not in the description.
What Basketly does not do
- It does not write a missing or short description: it makes nothing up.
- It does not change the description in the shop.
- It does not guarantee approval.

Google’s description page gives no HTML rule. Basketly still turns HTML into text, because platforms read a description as plain text.
That is a Basketly tip, not a Google requirement. A longer description gives a platform more to match on.
No. The fixes act on the file for platforms.
