Product feed
Definition: A product feed is a file or web address with a list of a shop’s products and their attributes, such as id, title, price, availability, image and link. Advertising platforms, for example Google Merchant Center and the Meta catalogue, fetch it regularly and use it to show products in ads and results.
The feed is the single source of truth about a product for catalogue ads. A mistake in the feed is a mistake in every ad that uses it.
Also called: product feed, data feed, Merchant Center feed, product data file

Why it matters for a shop
A platform shows a product the way the feed describes it. A wrong price, an empty availability, a title in capitals or a missing GTIN directly lower how the product is rated and shown. Fixing the source data is always best, but a feed lets you correct part of the problems on the way.
How Basketly handles it
- Feeds: an input → fixes → output flow, with a preview of changes before saving and how many products each fix changed.
- Rules: an ordered list of conditions and actions on any attribute, such as set an attribute from a template, shorten, change letter case, leave the product out.
- Link tagging and Google categories as the last steps before the feed is served.
- Products: each product rated with 44 checks against Google Merchant Center and the Meta catalogue.

What Product feed does not do
- Basketly does not add data the shop does not have and never changes the product id.
- A corrected feed does not guarantee approval by Google or Meta.
An export is raw data. A feed is a file in a format the platform understands, with attributes named per its specification.
You set that on the platform side. A feed in Basketly is built from the database on every request.
Often yes: both read Google/Meta XML. Mind link tagging, because one file can reach both.
