MCP (Model Context Protocol)
Definition: MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open-source standard for connecting AI applications to external systems. With it, assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can use data sources (for example files, databases), tools and workflows. The documentation compares it to a USB-C port: one standard connector for many devices.
For a shop owner MCP means one thing: an AI assistant can look into shop data and do allowed actions instead of asking you to copy numbers.
Also called: MCP, Model Context Protocol, MCP server
The demo has sample data; the login comes to your e-mail.
Why it matters for a shop
Shop analytics is dozens of reports and filters. An assistant connected through MCP answers questions about orders, products, feeds or campaign results in one sentence, but only within the permissions you give it. All the more reason to handle write keys with care.
How Basketly handles it
- Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and an n8n agent connect to app.basketly.io/mcp with an organisation key in the Authorization header, or through “Połącz”.
- Read tools (orders, products, feeds, campaigns, creatives, self-check) and write tools (product fixes, feeds, rules, notes, tasks).
- Every tool carries explicit hints: read-only, destructive, open world. Writes name their side effects.
- Shop data, such as product descriptions or notes, is data to the assistant, not instructions.

What MCP (Model Context Protocol) does not do
- An assistant can do only what its key or role allows, and it does not replace a human decision.
- Sends to Meta, once made, cannot be undone.
MCP is a standard for AI assistants. Basketly’s MCP tools call the same public API v1 inside, so the same permissions and limits apply.
It sees only what its key or the team member’s role allows, with the “only own” scope if set.
No. Paste the server address in the assistant or use the “Połącz” button.
