Apparel without colour, size, gender and age group
A clothing shop gets messages in Merchant Center about missing [color], [size], [gender] or [age_group]. Google requires them for clothing and shoes, and Basketly shows which are missing on each product.

The message you see
Messages about a missing value of [color], [size], [gender] or [age_group] on products in an apparel category; wording varies with the interface version.
Google Merchant Center → Products → Diagnostics, on the product.
What Basketly does
Basketly flags which of the four attributes are missing and marks it as a warning. It will not make the values up, so you fill them in the shop.
Why Google flags it
Shoppers filter clothing by colour, size and gender, so without that data a product will not appear in the right results. That is why Google requires the attributes for clothing and shoes in many countries, free listings included.
How Basketly handles it
- Products: the apparel attributes check (a warning) shows which of colour, size, gender and age group are empty.
- It appears when the Google category or product type contains clothing words (for example odzież, koszula, spodnie, buty, apparel, dress).
- A Google category assigned by the feed can bring out missing apparel attributes, because the category imposes requirements.
- It does not fill values in: variant data (colour, size) is in your shop.
How to fill in apparel attributes
Colours and sizes usually exist in the product’s variants in the shop.
See what is empty
Open the diagnosis on the product record and see which apparel attributes are missing.
Fill colour and size in the shop
Add them as product attributes or variants so the export passes color and size.
Set gender and age group
Use Google’s values: male, female, unisex and newborn, infant, toddler, kids, adult.
Single products
Type the value into a manual fix on the product record; it survives later shop reads.
What Basketly does not do
- It does not make up a colour, size, gender or age group.
- It recognises apparel by words in the category; a product without such words may get no check.
- It does not guarantee approval.
